My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.

Immortal Technique: Our ignorance affects the world
The current state of hip-hop needs a lot more artists like Immortal Technique on the front lines. He represents truth and real hip-hop in their purest form.
Yesterday I got in a car and a girl was bumping Immortal Technique and I told her he’s one of my favorite artists and she couldn’t believe it. We hardly ever find someone who knows about Immortal Technique and it’s fucking awesome once you do. We both live by Immortal Technique’s words, real hip hop isn’t listened to on the radio
Real talk. The radio in it’s current watered down state wouldn’t be able to handle Immortal Technique. His music isn’t made for twerking.

I love Immortal Technique. His lyrical content is always top notch. I have all of his work and I’ve been avidly bumping his classics for years. As you’d expect, I’m really excited about his new album The Middle Passage and I can’t wait for a release date.
Here are some of my favorite Immortal Technique songs I’ve posted thus far. I’ve been meaning to post more but I keep forgetting.
I really love Immortal Technique. He has a lot of hip-hop classics under his belt. I haven’t posted it yet, but Dance With The Devil is definitely the most emotionally dark song of all time. I bring it up since I was listening to his album Revolutionary Vol. 1 just yesterday. I’ve never seen him live (at least not yet), but I have a lot of friends who have throughout the years. They all said that as soon as he would start rapping Dance with the Devil, the whole room would grow eerily silent, and stay that way for the entire length of the song. A truly profound piece of audio art.
