My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
I’m making a new Hip-Hop Fights Back banner by the end of the week. I made the one I have now pretty much exactly one year ago. My new one will be professionally done, so don’t worry…and I’m also getting the rest of my tumblr layout looking up to par as well.
Chance The Rapper’s new mixtape Acid Rap is my third favorite mixtape of 2013 thus far…my favorite being J. Cole’s masterpiece.
One of my favorite songs off of Acid Rap is Juice, which I reviewed a few weeks ago.
Here’s the Download Link for Acid Rap, so prepare yourself for some unique and colorful hip-hop.
Hip-Hop Fights Back just got a nifty shout out from Danny Brown. I’ll post that tomorrow.
Wow…everything’s finally coming together. My music label and hip-hop merch company are officially set up, which collectively have over three dozen people making shit happen. Big things are happening, big things.
About to drink a couple beers, smoke some bong, and then go on an hour long night hike while listening to the newest in science on NPR. Honestly one of my favorite pastimes.
Some how I’m not surprised that if you still think Lil Wayne is any good, you inevitably have a low IQ. I’m sure that goes doubly for Nicki Minaj.
“The study’s author found kids from different colleges across the US, and compared their favorite music to the average SAT scores from those schools. According to the results, Lil Wayne fans had the lowest SAT score at 876, giving his fans the dreaded title of “dumbest fans,” while fans bands like Radiohead, Counting Crows, and singer Sufjan Stevens ranked in the 1200s. Fans of Beethoven ranked the highest at 1376. A perfect SAT score is 1600.”
