My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
NPR - Tupac Inspired The Arab Spring Revolution
Not only is Tupac a million times more popular in Libya than in America, but his music had a huge influence in spurring the revolution that started there a couple years ago. This is why we need real hip-hop in the world, and not just radio bullshit. NPR actually has multiple stories like this, all of which beautifully illustrate the life changing power of music, and how this profound human connection through music isn’t defined by skin color, race, religion, or where you grew up. It’s a truly universal art that any human can fully embrace and live by. Long live Tupac and real hip-hop!
