Does Law Protect Prayer Or Exclude Non-Christians?

I was listening to NPR today and this is one of the stories I came across.  It pissed me off so much I felt it was necessary to share on Tumblr.

I feel the greatest threat to humanity’s future comes in the form of painfully ignorant people whom force their hindering ideals onto the general public…such as Missouri State Rep. Mike McGhee.  If you didn’t know, the “prayer amendment” in which he sponsored was passed recently, and one of it’s provisions allows students to opt out of any class if it contradicts their beliefs.  I’m going to college and grad school to become an environmental scientist.  I’ve dedicated my life to science and the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, and to hear such an ignorant fuck, who’s obviously one of those “I don’t believe in evolution”  types, defend an amendment that promotes illiteracy in science and ignorance to reality…it just makes my head hurt.

As a side note, I have nothing against people of religious faith, but if someone’s religious ideals directly slow down or inhibit our species’s ability to progress…it becomes a problem…a big problem.

NPR did a great job with this story, so I highly recommend you listen to it if this kind of thing that interests you.

Smh I don’t see why you’re mad, because you’re a “scienist” and a politician got a amendment passed for those of religious beliefs? And you say you’re not mad but u clearly are, I feel sorry that u hold science in higher regard…
