My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
Tupac - Me Against The World (Big Z Remixes Remix)
Big Z Remixes is one of the most consistent remixers I know. His works are better than 95% of all other remixes I’ve come across throughout the years. This is one of my favorites by him. Me Against The World is a profound Tupac song with inherently desperate lyrics which beautifully portray the the daily emotional and physical struggles of the street thug life. The original song’s overall feel is fundamentally redefined with a more optimistic perception by infusing the song with a more modern and upbeat sounding instrumental. It manages this while also maintaining the uncut intensity of Tupac’s flow.
I used to listen to this religiously while I was going through a lot of shit last year. This song provides the perception that regardless of how fucked up your life gets, you can make it through. Tupac did..and he had a hell of a lot more problems then any of us. The original version is a classic, but I like this remix even more. This is off of Big Z Remixes’s remix mixtape Never Change.
