My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
Joell Ortiz - Night Train (Remix) (ft. Novel, Bun B, & Tech N9ne)
I really enjoyed Joell Ortiz’s last album Free Agent, but none of the songs on it truly blew my mind; however, this remix of Night Train which he released a few months later immediately left my cranium in pieces due to it’s overwhelming awesomeness. The big name features, the laid back flow, the intelligent lyrics, the soulful chorus, and its overall vibe make this beautiful song essentially perfect in every way…and some how it still manages to remain extremely low-key.
On my 30 Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2011 list I rated this the 2nd best song of the year.
