My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
Sage Francis - Slow Down Gandhi / Where’d You Go?
This is without a doubt my favorite Sage Francis song of all time, and it’s a true hip-hop classic in my book. I don’t actually like the original version of Slow Down Gandhi that much, mostly because I feel the some what aggressive sounding instrumental isn’t very good and it doesn’t mesh well with the eloquence of Sage’s lyrics. Fort Minor’s beat though…wow, really makes all the difference in the world for this song. Essentially turning an average song into a perfect specimen of outstanding hip-hop.

My Song Rating: 10 out of 10
My pedestal was too tall to climb off,...reason for my high horse. And from up here,
remember first hearing...during Freshman year. Still gives me chills.
