My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
Atmosphere - Scapegoat
Atmosphere’s older music has a distinctly different sound when compared to the kind of hip-hop they make now. Ant’s beats are more boom-bap in nature and Slug’s flow is a little more jagged and raw. Very 90’s in style. This is off of Atmosphere’s 1997 album Overcast. It’s a great album, but it’s definitely not as good as their newer works, such as You Can’t Imagine How Much Fun We’re Having or When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.
“It’s women, it’s the plight for power, it’s government. It’s the way you’re giving knowledge, slow with thought control and subtle hints.”
