My name's Jake Bourey, and I've dedicated a significant portion of my life to music and deciphering the science behind its beauty. As you can guess from my blog's title, I'm especially passionate about hip-hop. I post and review the best songs hip-hop has to offer, old and new. Most are in the “underground” genre, considering that’s where the vast majority of hip-hop's true art resides these days.
Sene & Blu - Eyes Dry
I love Sene and Blu’s work, so obviously I really enjoyed their 2009 collab album A Day Late & A Dollar Short. This is my favorite song off of it, and it’s also in my top 3 favorite songs of 2009. Eyes Dry depicts real personal problems spit over a soulful piano instrumental with a down to Earth flow that puts all of the strong emotional lyrics into a relatable perspective. It doesn’t get much more hip-hop than this!
“My days are cold, my nights are slow, and I can’t take it.”
